Titans Vs The NFL: Return Game Helping Field Position

Here's how the Titans compare to the rest of the NFL heading into week 14.

Kick returner/cornerback Pacman Jones ranks in at fifth in the NFL for kick return yards. With 31 returns, Jones averages 26.8 yards. Pacman’s longest return of the season came against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a return of 85 yards. Pacman also sits third in the league in punt returns with an average of 10.3 yards per return. Sunday’s game against the Colts, Jones totaled six kick returns with an average of 28.5 yards and a long of 53 yards. Pacman also took one punt for 16 yards.

Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch finds himself tied for third in the NFL with 10.5 sacks. Vanden Bosch had two sacks called back in Sunday’s loss to the Colts due to penalties.

With 100 tackles, linebacker Keith Bulluck ranks ninth in the NFL for total tackles. Bulluck recorded four of those tackles against Indianapolis.

Quarterback Steve McNair ranks in at 12th in the league with 2,609 passing yards. McNair has also thrown 14 touchdown passes moving him to 16th in the NFL. McNair’s passer rating of 83.8 ranks him 16th in the league. The veteran quarterback came out of Sunday’s game completing 22 of 33 passes for 220 yards.

Titans running back Chris Brown rushed into the 20th spot in the league for rushing yards with 724 on the season. Brown averages 4.0 yards per carry and his long stands at 38 yards. Brown also comes in at 18th in the league for rushing touchdowns with five. In Sunday’s loss to Indianapolis, Brown carried the load 11 times for 32 yards.

Kicker Rob Bironas, hitting on 19 of 24 of his field goals, kicked his way into the ninth spot in the NFL for total field goals made. Bironas went one-for-two in field goals giving the Titans their only points against the Colts. Bironas’ longest field goal remains at 53 yards for the season.

Titans punter Craig Hentrich falls into the 16th spot in the NFL in punting average with 42.9 yards per kick. Hentrich kicked his long of the season of 57 yards against the Jaguars and has helped holding opponents’ punt return average at 3.9 yards per return (best in the NFL).

Tight end Erron Kinney ranks 27th in the league and leads the Titans in receptions with 54. Kinney went down in Sunday’s game against the Colts with a knee injury. Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher said he doesn’t expect Kinney to start in this Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans.
