With a 26-7 win on Monday Night Football against Pittsburgh, the Colts extended their record to 11-0, continuing the talk of a possible undefeated season.
Colts quarterback Peyton Manning said they are not concerned with the overall record, but just the team they face this week in the Titans.
''I know it’s kind of a boring answer but we all are just focused on the Titans this week,'' Manning said. ''That’s the best thing we’ve done all season is played hard on Sunday or Monday and quickly moved on to the next opponent. The key is having a good week of practice on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and take it from the practice field to the playing field.''
Colts Head Coach Tony Dungy said he doesn’t mind the undefeated season questions because it means his team keeps winning.
''It’s not something we’re really focused on but what it does mean is we continue to win and that’s a good thing,'' Dungy said.
Manning said this week’s match up will be another battle in the AFC South division and said the game plan for this week’s contest will look similar to Week four.
''I think both teams are very familiar with each other, both teams play really hard,'' Manning said. ''In the first game we just had some really good execution, we made some big plays in the passing game, so I think anytime you move the ball against any team it’s important to execute and try to make plays and that will be the scenario this Sunday.''
Manning said the Colts will have to handle the Titans defensive line, which constantly puts pressure on the opposing quarterback. Tennessee has 28 quarterback sacks on the year, but the Colts have given up just nine.
''I think any defense still starts up front,'' Manning said. ''They still put a lot of pressure on the quarterback. Vanden Bosch is causing a lot of havoc with the big sack-fumble situation against Jacksonville, so it’s kind of like our defense on where it starts. Those guys can put a lot of pressure on the quarterback so it’s a big challenge for our offensive line.''
''It seems like anytime we play the Titans you always have to have a clock in your head as far as getting rid of the ball on time.''
The Titans are the youngest team in the NFL, but Manning said the Colts youth, which started the season as the leagues second youngest team, adds the needed intensity during game preparation.
''I think our youth really makes a difference in practice,'' Manning said. ''There are a lot of young players out there. Those guys are excited about football, they’re flying around out there.''
Dungy said the Colts will focus on exploiting the Titans weaknesses to the fullest this weekend.
''This week our approach is let’s look at Tennessee, let’s look at their strengths, and what we’re going to have to defend against and let’s focus in on some of the weaknesses that we perceive them to have and how we’re going to attack,'' Dungy said. ''We’ve done that every week and it’s been good.''
