Fisher Says Players Deserved To Win
By Jonathan Hutton November 28, 2005

Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher said Sunday’s 33-22 came from hard work and contribution from all three phases of the team.

''It was huge,'' Fisher said. ''I thought it was real good for them to experience that. As I’ve been saying each week, they’re working hard and they deserved it. All around, defensively, offensively, special teams – they all contributed and played with a great deal of energy.''

Fisher said the 14-9 deficit at halftime had players aggravated, which helped boost a third quarter comeback.

''They were a little frustrated at halftime because of some of some of the things that happened in the first half that didn’t particularly go our way, but they knew if we could just stay with it and increase the intensity just a little bit in the third quarter that we would have a chance to break things open and we did,'' Fisher said.

The Titans came out of the locker room fired up, scoring three touchdowns in the third quarter.

''That’s something we point out to the players,'' Fisher said. ''You can overcome a deficit just by making some plays. A great example was [the 49ers] miss-handling that punt and us recovering that ball. That was a huge turn-around for us.''

''Here we are, we’re three and out, we’ve ran it twice and we didn’t convert, we punt the ball away and 30 seconds later we’ve seven points on the board so those things are good for the players to see and experience.''

Fisher said despite good play from all aspects of the team, penalties still haunt the Titans squad. The Titans committed 10 penalties for 70 yards on Sunday and have been flagged 87 times all season.

''Believe me, we’re working at it,'' Fisher said. ''The false starts and who would have thought that a 15-year veteran offensive tackle would false start in the fourth quarter.''

''With the false starts, the holds, those kinds of things, I can handle the ones that have to do with the play; it’s the ones that don’t have anything to do with the play that are a concern to me.''
