First, Tennessee took Houston's team and then they took the draftee that many Texans fans wanted in Vince Young.
''I don't know if the rivalry could be any more intense,'' Titans Owner Bud Adams said. ''I think this will be great for the people in Texas because they'll be able to see Vince play once a year.''
Adams brought Young to Houston Sunday on his private jet. The two met with the media Sunday night.
''I am happy to be with the Titans and have an opportunity to come back and beat up on the Texans,'' Young said. ''It's not all about proving a point. It's all about winning. And it's not all about me. It's about the team.''
''I have all the respect for the Texans fans who wanted me to be picked, but they don't make the decision. Mr. Adams came all the way to pick me up and bring me back here today and I'm happy about being a Titan.''
Though he said he had never seen a quarterback like Young, Adams said he did not instruct General Manager Floyd Reese and Head Coach Jeff Fisher to take the quarterback.
''I know Norm Chow naturally favored Matt because he coached him,'' Adams said. ''But he realizes that in the pro ranks things will be different. And if you pinned him down, I think he knows in five or six years they'll be talking about Vince a lot more.''
