Tennessee added more linebacker help in Sunday's fifth round, selecting Miami (Ohio) outside linebacker Terna Nande.
''I feel like I'm one of those guys who has a lot to prove,'' Nande said. ''I feel like I have great ability and I'm glad the Tennessee Titans were able to see something in and I just want to show them I can be a great asset to their team.''
Nande, whose family hails from Nigeria, played in just six games last season after suffering a lacerated liver.
''It was kind of a freak injury that happened in the third game of the season vs Kent State,'' Nande said. ''I took a blind side hit to the right side of my abdomen. The hit kind of jarred my organs together and caused the laceration.''
Nande appealed to the NCAA for a medical redshirt, but was turned down for a fifth season of eligibility.
He earned first-team All MAC honors as a junior, totalling 3.5 sacks and nine tackles for losses.
Titans Radio Draft Analyst Mike Detillier graded Nande (5-11, 232) as the 16th best outside linebacker in the group. Nande ran a 4.48 40-yard in his workouts and did 41 reps of 225 pounds.
''This young man is really put together and he just crushes runners in their tracks,'' M&D Draft Report Author Mike Detillier said. ''Nande has excellent range and roams the field extremely well from side to side.''
