Tennessee found a playmaker with its second pick in Sunday's first round, taking linebacker Stephen Tulloch with the 116th overall pick.
''I talked to the coaches briefly and they said they want me to come in and not just be a special teams job, but compete for a position,'' Tulloch said. ''That's what I'm going to do.''
Tulloch stands 5-11, 240 pounds. He said he has heard about his lack of size his entire career.
''I've been proving it since I was in high school,'' Tulloch said. ''You can't judge a people's heart. I'm a football player and I'll get the job done.''
Tulloch left the Wolfpack after his junior season, tallying a team-leading 134 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, six quarterback sacks and nine quarterback pressures. He said he played both inside and outside in Raleigh.
Though he visited with the Titans at the Combine, Tulloch said he got the most interest from Green Bay and Kansas City. The Bears and Jaguars had also contacted him.
Tulloch said the Titans called first thing Sunday morning and said he ready.
Mike Detillier, author of the M&D Draft Report, ranks Tulloch as the 11th best outside linebacker in this year's draft.
''(A) versatile linebacker, who could project to either weakside or middle linebacker,'' Detillier wrote. ''Very intense and productive player. Tulloch lacks great size and bulk strength and he needs to learn how to play off of blockers in a quick fashion.''
