Vanderbilt Quarterback Jay Cutler said he is not surprised that the Titans have downplayed interest in the cross-town star.
''Floyd Reese is obviously known for his smokescreens and everything,'' Cutler told the Tennessean. ''But I feel like I have done extremely well every time I've been with the Titans and in different situations like the Senior Bowl and Combine.''
Cutler met with Jets officials in Nashville Sunday night and Monday. He said he got the same vibes from the Jets, who pick fourth, as he did from the Titans, who pick third.
''A lot of the teams at the top of the draft aren't going to really say anything,'' Cutler told the Tennessean. ''It is pretty constant with the Jets and the Titans.''
Cutler shot up the draft board in the days surrounding the Senior Bowl. Still, most experts project him as a five-to-ten pick in next Saturday's first round, after quarterbacks Matt Leinart and Vince Young's projected selection.
''I think I have proven over the last four years I can do everything they can,'' Cutler told the Tennessean. ''We didn't win as many games as they did, we don't have some of the people that Texas and USC gets to run around with. I think I can do it and it is just somebody taking a shot on me.''
Cutler admitted he just wants to get the draft day experience underway.
''You never know what is going to happen. I wish the draft was tomorrow,'' Cutler told the Tennessean. ''It's been a fun ride, but I am ready to get off of it and find out where I am going, that's for sure.''
