Ratings From Mike Detillier, M&D Draft Report
|
The Titans got four offensive players and four defensive players in the weekend's NFL Draft.
''We sought to improve the speed and athleticism on this team and we feel like we've done that,'' Titans General Manager Floyd Reese said. ''We're real happy with what we've done.''
After going with offense in the team's only two selections Saturday, Sunday began with four straight defensive picks. The Titans added depth at linebacker and defensive back.
''These are guys that are coming in competing and creating competitive situations in a number of areas,'' Head Coach Jeff Fisher said. ''We talked about that as being one of the priorities this year, creating competition. They are not slam dunk deals but they are going to create competition.''

Mike Keith's Action Plan
As the Titans prepare for the most important draft since the franchise arrived in the mid south, here's how the ''Voice of the Titans'' Mike Keith sizes up the Titans needs. 1. Quarterback: The Titans need to begin preparations for the future at the key position. 2. Inside Linebacker: Increased athleticism has been the key phrase at linebacker so far this off-season. 3. Running Back: The team has Brown and Henry but what about the future. 4. Defensive End: The team keeps looking for a difference-maker opposite Vanden Bosch. 5. Cornerback: Can never have enough talent and the Titans need depth. NFC Preview

Mike Detillier's Mock Draft Top 6
1. Texans - Reggie Bush (HB) USC The Texans are convinced that D. Carr is their QB. of the future and they love Mr. Bush from USC. 2. Saints - Matt Leinart (QB) USC Just a hunch that the Saints will choose Leinart's pro-style tutelage over Young's athletic skills. 3. Titans - Vince Young (QB) Texas Young will get plenty of pro-style coaching from his mentor Steve McNair and O/C Norm Chow. 4. Jets - D'Brickashaw Ferguson (OT) Virginia The Jets will have to give Vandy's Jay Cutler plenty of consideration, but they really must rebuild their O-Line and Ferguson is a real good one. 5. Packers - Mario Williams (DE) NC State The best DE. prospect to come out since Julius Peppers. 6. Raiders - Jay Cutler (QB) Vanderbilt The Raiders are in desperate need of a young QB. to build around.
