Young: We'll Be In Playoffs Next Year
By Evan Dennison December 31, 2006

The season for the Titans may have ended on a sour note with a 40-23 defeat to the Patriots, but quarterback Vince Young remained upbeat after the final game of his rookie season.

"I'm proud of my teammates as well as myself and the fans that stuck behind us throughout the season," Young said.

"As a team we could have gave up, fans could have gave up but we all believed in each other, fans believed in us and we all stayed focused."

Young struggled all day against the NFL's sixth best defense statistically as the Patriots would not let Young get out of the pocket. However Young said it was not the Patriots, but the Titans, who stopped the offense.

"We just couldn't get in the endzone as an offense,'' Young said. ''I really feel like we stopped ourselves as a team.''

Young went 15-of-36 passing for 227 yards with two interceptions. Young carried the ball two times for 29 yards which included a 28 yard touchdown run.

Young made one guarantee for the 2007 season in which he knows he doesn't want to feel like this come this time next season. Young said the Titans will make a run next year.

"We don't wont that [losing] taste again...we will be in the playoffs next year," Young said.

The Patriots spied Young in the pocket all game long and would not let him break free with exception to the touchdown run in which Young broke a few tackles to make the play happen.

The rookie out of Texas in his first year ended 184-of-357 passing for 2129 passing yards with 12 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Young had 83 rushes for 551 yards and seven rushing touchdowns.
