Fantasy Football: Take Johnson
By Chris Hanson December 29, 2006

In Week 16, we probably had our best week of the season nailing the top three backs of the week in order with Ron Dayne/HOU, Steven Jackson/STL and Shaun Alexander/SEA all rushing for over 140 yards and each scoring two touchdowns apiece.

We also got touchdowns from Ben Roethlisberger/PIT, Chad Pennington/NYJ, Marques Colston/NO, and Javon Walker/DEN. So overall, it was a great week for our picks.

Here’s this week’s “Picks to Click”...

Running Backs

• Ronnie Brown/MIA – Brown had over 115 yards rushing last week in the loss to the Jets, and Indianapolis is last in the league against the run, so we like Brown to run wild on the artificial turf on Sunday at the RCA Dome.

• Leon Washington/NYJ – Washington has had to share time in the backfield with Kevan Barlow this season, but we think he’ll be the money man this week as the Jets run their way to a playoff birth against the awful Oakland defense at home.

• Chester Taylor/MIN – Taylor has had a very productive year as the starter for the Vikings and we see him finishing strong against the weak Rams weak rush defense Sunday at home in Minnesota.

Quarterbacks

• Rex Grossman/CHI – Lovie Smith and the Bears need to make sure Grossman is playing well going into their off week of the playoffs, so we think they’ll treat this game as a tune up which will be bad news for the Packers and their young defense.

• Matt Hasselbeck/SEA – This will be another tune up game for Hasselbeck and the Seahawks against the Buccaneers in Tampa. They may rest Alexander, but Holmgrin will make sure his passing game is clicking as they enter the playoffs.

• Vince Young/TEN – How can you go against this guy? We certainly are not betting against Vince and the Titans. He’s one of the hottest players in the league and with some help you could see the Titans causing major damage in the playoffs.

Receivers

• Reggie Brown/PHI – Brown, Garcia and the Eagles are all flying high right now and they still have a great shot at the playoffs with a win and we think they’ll get it in high fashion at home against the Falcons.

• Joey Galloway/TB – Galloway is still a burner averaging over 17 yards per catch. We think this game against Seattle will be a blow out and we look for Galloway to get some long balls thrown his way over the course of the day.

• Andre Johnson/HOU – Johnson has over 100 catches this year and because of his size and speed, he’s very difficult to cover man-to-man. We like his chances this week against the Browns at home as they bunch up to try and stop the run.

Kicker

• John Kasay/CAR – Nothing screams “field goal” quite like the Panthers offense. With a good defensive effort on Sunday, Kasay should be a busy man against the Saints in a game that means very little for each team, but alot for us fantasy geeks.
