Titans Focused On Patriots, Not Playoffs
By Colt McCormick December 27, 2006

With the regular season coming to an end and the playoffs starting soon, Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher said that the team is focused on the upcoming opponent the New England Patriots.

''(The players) know that in order for anything to happen we’ve got to play well, and that’s the most important thing,'' Fisher said.

Fisher also added that the Patriots, who have clinched the AFC East and a spot in the playoffs, present a difficult challenge as Tennessee must win in order to have a shot at the playoffs.

''They’re a well coached team,'' Fisher said. ''They’ve got a lot of very good components that work together on both sides of the ball.''

Fisher also added that the Patriots have different game plans for each of their opponents.

''The challenge however with New England is that they’re going to do something different every week anyway,'' Fisher said. ''They’ve got a different plan for each opponent and each plan is very, very unique. You have to go back and pull things out. As a staff, we try to anticipate the kinds of things we’re going to do and we’re going to get and just do our best to prepare ourselves.''

With the Patriots having clinched a playoff spot and being unable to gain a first round bye, it is unknown as to how much New England will play their starters. Fisher said that the Titans will prepare as though the starters will play the entire game.

''We really can’t control what’s going to happen this week,'' Fisher said. ''We’re just going to go out and prepare ourselves based on what we’ve seen on tape. (We’ll) place a great deal of emphasis on your ability to adjust based on what they show early in the game.''
