Texans Already Tired of Young's Return
Staff Report December 8, 2006

With all the talk of Vince Young returning to play in the state of Texas since he was a Longhorn in Austin, some Texans players are getting tired of hearing the conversation around town.

Young said earlier this week he expected to get ''a lot of respect and a lot of love'' from the Houston crowd this weekend.

''Shame on the crowd if they come to Reliant Stadium and root for [Young],'' Texans defensive end Antwan Peek told the Houston Chronicle. ''Hey, this is our house. When he comes in here, we're going to lock the gates up, and it's going to be on after that.''

As for scheming to defend Young's playing ability, the Texans have said they're more concerned with Young's threat as a runner than they are of his arm.

After last week's win over Indianapolis, Young ranked second among current quarterbacks in rushing yards with 372 yards on 62 carries.

Young said he's comfortable in the open field.

''I just feel like one-on-one I have a chance of beating any guy," Young said. ''The guy may make the tackle, but at the same time my confidence level is so high I'm always trying to make a guy miss or trying to beat him any way I can.''

Peek told the Houston Chronicle that Young may need to be more concerned than he seems to be.

''This is the NFL; he better be worried ... on any given Sunday,'' Peek told the Houston Chronicle. ''As he ... becomes a more mature quarterback, he will be a guy that's scary, but for right now he's still a young guy, he's still learning.''
