WR Roby Looks to Improve
By Evan Dennison December 6, 2006

Titans wide receiver Courtney Roby returned back to the receiver rotation against the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday and made a nice catch along the sidelines.

“It was a good read by Vince, he saw me slip the man and get back outside,” Roby said. “I kind of settled in and he was able to hit me and it was a big play so it felt good.”

The 21 yard reception set the Titans up for their first touchdown of the game before the first half ended.

Roby had been inactive the first four games of the season and has just one other catch this season. Last season, Roby made 21 receptions for 289 yards in 13 games.

Titans head coach Jeff Fisher said a couple weeks ago that he wants to see more consistency out of the wide out position and Roby said he can provide that.

“I have been improving day in and day out so I just need to go out there and let it be shown,” Roby said. “When given the opportunity that’s what I look to do.”

It may not show up with receiving numbers, the second year player out of Indiana has just two catches for 28 yards on the season, but Roby said there are different aspects of the position in which he can improve on.

“I feel like all receivers can improve in something because you really can’t get content with your game because that’s when you start decreasing,” Roby said. “I just try and work on all aspects of my game and continue to get better.”

And with Roby being from Indiana, the win over the Colts made the victory a little more bittersweet.

“I got some bragging rights now when I go back home and I have a lot of friends that play for the Colts so it felt good,” Roby said.
