Young Ready To Face Hometown Texans
By Colt McCormick December 6, 2006

Titans quarterback Vince Young said that he is looking for a win in his first trip to his hometown of Houston when he faces the Texans on Sunday.

''It’s going to be a game at home, that’s basically it,'' Young said. ''To me, I’m going home, playing in front of my hometown crowd and that’s basically it. Try to come home for a win.''

Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher said that in order for Young to be successful against the Texans, the rookie quarterback must stay focused during the week.

''He understands that his best chance of being successful in this game is to remain focused on the practice field and focused throughout the week,'' Fisher said.

Fisher also added that since Young has already played a game against the Texans, the first year quarterback won’t have as many emotions heading into Sunday’s game.

''Had this been the first game against Houston at Houston I think it would have been a little bigger deal for him,'' Fisher said. ''He’s already got the first one under his belt. Fortunately we played well enough to win that game. We got a lot of help from the defense. It was an emotional game for him and now he’s going back home. It’s one of many trips he’s going to make back to Houston.''

In his first game against the Texans, Young threw for 87-yards and a touchdown on 7-of-15 passing. Young also rushed four times for 44-yards and a touchdown. Young's quaterback rating of 87.4 in that game is the second-highest rating in his rookie season.

Young said he is still developing as a quarterback as the Titans success continues to grow.

''I’m still a rookie and I’m still learning,'' Young said. ''I’m getting put in different situations in the game to give my teammates the opportunity so we can win the game.''
