Age A Factor On Titans Defense

With just about a month before the beginning of free agency, Head Coach Jeff Fisher said the Titans analysis of the upcoming market is well underway. In an interview with Titans Radio, Fisher once again said the dominant area of work in free agency and the draft will be the Titans defense. Fisher said the team had some players whose age simply would not allow them to play at the same level.


Fisher Downplays Johnson's Money Talk

Saying he understood Johnson wanted more money after a record-setting season, Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher called any talks of a new deal or an extension "premature." Johnson laughingly told reporters they would have to ask his agent whether the East Carolina product would be seeking a new contract. The first-born son of former Titans Quarterback Steve McNair signed with Southern Miss Wednesday. The University said the paperwork for Steve McNair Jr. arrived just before 8:30am Wednesday morning. McNair Jr., a wide receiver, will start out his freshman season as a slot receiver, according to head coach Larry Fedora.


Johnson Picks Up Ground Award

Titans Running Back Chris Johnson gained another honor Wednesday being named the FedEx Ground Player Of The Year at ceremonies in south Florida. Saints Quarterback Drew Brees won the award for passing, his second consecutive honor. Johnson finished the 2009 season with 2,006 yards.


Former Titan Roby Ready To Return

The Titans drafted Courtney Roby in the 2005 NFL Draft hoping for a receiver help. Five seasons later, Roby has become a kick return specialist. Sunday, he goes for a Super Bowl ring as his current team, the Saints, plays one of his former teams, the Colts. Roby averaged better than 27 yards per return during the regular season.


Roos Seeing Red With Turf Donation

Titans Tackle Michael Roos made a $500,000 pledge to his alma mater's plans to install red turf for the football stadium. Eastern Washington University's field would be the first in the nation with a red surface, similar to the blue surface used at Boise State.


68 Mid South Players Invited To Combine

A total of 68 players from SEC and mid south schools will be in Indianapolis later this month for the 2010 NFL Combine. All 32 teams will be on-hand to continue their preparation for the 75th NFL Draft.

Mawae Thankful For 8th Pro Bowl

Johnson Scores Pro Bowl TD, AFC Wins

Titans Running Back Chris Johnson helped the AFC start the game with a 7-0 lead with three catches on the game's first three plays. Two screens and a dumpoff pass led to 18 yards. The AFC won the shootout, 41-34, tying the series at 20 games apiece.


McNair's Boys With Young At Pro Bowl

The sons of slain Titans Quarterback Steve McNair spent the weekend with Vince Young at his second Pro Bowl. Young paid for the boys along with Steve's widow, Mechelle, to attend the weekend's activities in south Florida. Mechelle McNair called Young a "big brother" to her boys.

Vanden Bosch Does Not Expect To Return

Defensive End Kyle Vanden Bosch said he does not expect to be a Titan in 2010, taking the team's lack of communication as a sign they do not want to sign the unrestricted free agent. Vanden Bosch tallied just three sacks in 2008, but said he believes he still has at least five good years remaining.

The Titans finished the season second only to the Broncos in games lost to injury, according to a report from FootballOutsiders.Com. Haynesworth was placed on 30 days probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine on Dec. 9 as punishment for driving 103 mph on Interstate 65. Haynesworth received the speeding ticket in March of 2008.
