Titans to release disappointing LB Beasley

The Tennessee Titans informed linebacker Vic Beasley Jr. that he will be released Wednesday, according to the club’s website. The Titans did release cornerback Johnathan Joseph and long snapper Beau Brinkley on Tuesday.Beasley signed a one-year, $9.5 million deal with Tennessee in the offseason but was a major disappointment. He had just three tackles and one forced fumble in five games. There was thick tension between Beasley and the club when the 28-year-old reported to camp 10 days later due to an unexcused absence and racked up $500,000 in fines.Beasley later sustained a knee injury and missed Tennessee’s first two games of the season. He made his team debut against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3 but was never able to make an impact with the Titans. Beasley was unable to put pressure on the quarterback — the thing Tennessee brought him in to do.Titans coach Mike Vrabel was asked about Beasley’s effort on Monday.”At this point in the season, teams are going to go in one of two directions, they’re going to keep getting better or they’re not, and we were a team last year that continued to improve,” Vrabel said. “That’s my charge now, is to make sure that we’re one of those teams that keeps getting better.”
